Larry Eisenberg Executive Director, Facilities Planning and Development
Larry H. Eisenberg has served as the executive director of Facilities Planning and Development for the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) since 2002. In that role, he directs its $5.7 billion sustainable building and renewable energy programs and oversees its planning, facilities development, maintenance and real estate activities. By the time the construction program is complete, the district's nine campuses will feature almost 100 new buildings that exceed the U.S. Green Building Council's LEEDTM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified standards, including nearly 50 "zero-energy" buildings. Mr. Eisenberg's renewable energy plan will ensure that the campuses will produce enough on-site power to be energy independent.
About Mr. Eisenberg: Larry Eisenberg is the Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Development for the Los Angeles Community College District. The Los Angeles Community College District is presently implementing a $2.2 billion construction and renovation program based on the principles of sustainability, making it one of the largest sustainable development programs in the world.
Larry currently serves as a member of both the American College and University President's Climate Commitment Advisory Group and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education Technical Advisory Committee.
Prior to coming to the LACCD, Larry held the position of Facilities Manager in the Washington County Department of Support Services for nearly ten years. He also served as the Associate Vice President for Physical Planning and Development for the University of Wisconsin System for five years. Larry has also held several senior management positions in Wisconsin state government.
Larry received a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs, part of the University of Texas at Austin. Larry was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley North Hollywood High School. Larry is married and has a 30-year-old son, who presently lives in the Seattle area.
