NEW MEMBER BREAKFAST
October 7, 2003 brought us not only a new Governor, but also an exciting net-working opportunity for LAHq members. This quarterly breakfast is the organization’s way of welcoming new members. The group, which numbered about 30, was energetic and ready to become part of the LAHq community. A brief bio of each firm has been provided on the insert.

Teresa Powell of WET Design conducted the meeting, assisted by Deborah Brown of AC Martin Partners and James Malone of Jones Lang LaSalle. Each new member gave a brief presentation about their respective firm. Teresa also described the benefits of joining one of the standing committees, describing opportunities for new members to take an active role in the leadership and direction of LAHq. Ultimately members get back what they give.

LAHq HOLIDAY LUNCHEON
Enhancing the quality of life in Los Angeles will require not only providing opportunities for professionals today, but also training our leaders of tomorrow. One way LAHq works to achieve this goal is by exposing elementary students of various back-grounds to opportunities for their future. This year LAHq’s annual Holiday Luncheon included the involvement of sixty 4th, 5th and 6th grade students from Utah Street School. After a tour of several downtown landmarks the children were welcomed into the Omni Hotel where they performed holiday songs for the LAHq members and guests in attendance. The students were then treated to pizza and ice cream sundaes. Highlights of the event for the children included the arrival of Santa Claus and his gift bags as well as a chance to be sketched by talented Universal Studios caricature artists.

LEADS GROUPS

One of the benefits of membership in LAHq is the opportunity to be part of one of our informative leads groups. With groups currently active in the Tri-Cities and the South Bay, there are numerous opportunities for involvement. Each group is comprised of a wide range of consultants from non-competing, complementary firms who discuss how to increase their workload and potential new business opportunities.

A new leads group has been created that meets Downtown on the first Tuesday of the month at 8:00 a.m. at Phillipe’s Restaurant. The first meeting was December 2, 2003. If you are interested in participating in one of our groups or have any questions about how to join, contact Mary Beth Broussard at WET Design 818.769.6200 or James Mal-one at Jones Lang LaSalle 213.680.7940.
