THE SPIRIT OF LOS ANGELES AWARD
David Freeman, General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power will be honored with the coveted "Spirit of Los Angeles Award" for his distinguished leadership of the department.

CULTURAL AWARD

The Cultural Award honors American Cinematheque for restoring the historic Egyptian Theatre celebrated as the oldest and newest attraction for the film industry. The award will be accepted by cofounder Barbara Smith for the $15 million rehabilitation, a key element in the revitalization of Hollywood Boulevard.

PROJECT SHOWCASE
Exhibits, Renderings, Models on Display

A wide range of projects will be featured in the foyer of the Music Center just before the Awards Luncheon. With these exhibits underway major developers, design firms, contractors, architects and other real estate related firms indicate the ever-present growth in the greater Los Angeles area.

The Alhambra Office Community is a 45 acre, one million square foot campus, being developed by Wayne Ratkovich for the business professional.

Playa Vista's Fountain Park apartments, a Morley Builders project is a 703 unit structure that includes 340 acres of restored Ballona Wetlands.

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky will introduce Mr. Freeman who will be hailed for providing key leadership and intuitive foresight. He kept the lights and power on in Los Angeles while the rest of the state had blackouts and increased rates.

COMMUNITY AWARD
The Community Award honors Timothy J. Leiweke, president of Anschutz Entertainment Group for the development of STAPLES Center, a Los Angeles showplace for sports franchising including the Los Angels Lakers and Los AngelesKings, and international prestigious concerts and special events. These events contributed to downtown's development and have made Los Angeles a major city for sports and entertainment.


A 7,000 theatre and headquarters hotel are part of a proposed project surrounding STAPLES Center. The four million square toot development also includes housing and retail and office space.
